Month-end reporting
Every month someone exports three reports, pastes them into a spreadsheet, repairs the formulas that broke, and sends it out late. We make the report build itself, checked and on time.
- Worth automating when
- The report takes more than half a day to put together, or draws from more than two systems.
- Works with
- QuickBooks, Xero, Excel, Google Sheets, Shopify, Square, HubSpot, Looker Studio, Power BI, and most tools with an export or a connection.
- Who checks the exceptions
- Whoever owns the report, when a check fails or before it's sent if you want a review step
- Price
- from $3,500 fixed, quoted before we start. Optional upkeep from $350 a month.
How it runs
Data is pulled on schedule
Straight from each system through its official connection. No exports, no copy and paste.
Numbers are prepared the same way every time
Same categories, same date cutoffs, same currency conversion, so this month compares cleanly with last month.
Checks run before anyone sees it
Totals tie to the books, no missing days, nothing counted twice. If a check fails, the report waits and says which number didn't match.
Your template is filled in
The Excel or Google Sheets layout your team already reads, kept as it is.
It arrives in the right inboxes
With a short note on what moved since last period.
A worked example
A typical setup, to show how the pieces fit. Not a client story.
A three-location restaurant group
Today: Sales from Square, labour from the scheduling app, costs from QuickBooks. The owner's weekly prime-cost report takes the bookkeeper most of Monday morning.
After: The report builds at 6 a.m. every Monday, ties to the books, and is in the owner's inbox before anyone arrives. The bookkeeper spends 15 minutes reading it instead of making it.
| Measure | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Time building the report | 4 hrs/wk | 15 min/wk |
| Report arrives | Monday afternoon | Monday 6 a.m. |
Questions about month-end reporting
- Can we keep our spreadsheet layout?
- Yes. We fill in the template you already use. People keep reading the report they know.
- What if a source number is wrong?
- The checks catch the common problems, like a missing day or a total that doesn't tie, and hold the report with the reason. The report still reflects your books, so a miscoded entry has to be fixed in the books.
- Do we need new reporting software?
- No. Most small businesses are well served by a spreadsheet that fills itself in. If you already have Looker Studio or Power BI, we can feed that instead.
